Artist Highlight: Dominik Modlinski
Where Gods Reside by Dominik Modlinski is now available as a Cobble Hill 1000pc puzzle, released in 2026 as part of our Canadian Landscape Series.

Dominik doesn’t just paint landscapes; he lives them. His work comes from long, direct encounters in remote locations, local-only paths, and journeys where arrival is never guaranteed (watch the video below to really see what we're talking about). He fully immerses himself in each environment, letting the experience feed his mind, soul, and heart. That depth lives in every brushstroke, elevating each painting from a beautiful landscape into a heartfelt story. It leaves us wondering how many artists go the distance like Dominik to capture these stories. We love his colourful paintings from his Atlin collection, where he took a bicycle painting trip from Whitehorse, YT to Vancouver, BC (that's a 27 hour car trip).

Originally from Warsaw, Poland, Dominik made Canada his home in 1987 and graduated with honours from the Ontario College of Art. His travels span coast to coast across Canada and far beyond, including Antarctica, Greenland, the High Arctic, Africa, and South America. Along the way, he’s built an impressive resume including television productions, a sixth-degree black belt in Karate, Associate Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, and representation in galleries across Canada.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to bring Dominik Modlinski’s work into a new medium, transforming his sweeping landscapes into a puzzle experience that invites you to piece together the wild. Each section assembled echoes the journey behind it: the climb, the patience, the pursuit of untamed beauty <--and he really searches for it!
We hope Where Gods Reside brings a sense of wonder to your table.

Artist quote for Where Gods Reside (original 47" x 60" oil on canvas):
"Original painting based on painting and hiking in the Rocky Mountains. One of my favorite scenes to paint is the transition between various mountain environments. The juxtaposition of shapes and colours, always creates inviting and engaging composition. The image captures the moment of when we finally reach the high alpine after a long hike and are rewarded with displayed of alpine flowers and majestic mountains above."
