Community Connection is a priority for Cobble Hill Puzzle Co. We care deeply about sharing our passion for jigsaw puzzles and the joy they bring. By donating puzzles to senior assisted living homes, libraries, schools, and puzzle competitions, we hope in a small way to support a healthy and wholesome activity for people of all ages, backgrounds, and experiences.
Traditionally, puzzles have been a solo pastime. Yet, even in this age of technology, we’ve seen more and more people coming together around the puzzle table. Seniors in assisted living homes often gather to puzzle socially, while classrooms are discovering puzzles as collaborative and creative learning tools. One of our favourite examples is a local Grade 9 Honours English class in Victoria, BC, where the teacher used our Dragon’s Lair puzzle by Anne Stokes to spark an epic adventure while studying Tolkien’s The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.
Beyond connection, puzzles also offer cognitive benefits. As puzzlers search through scattered pieces to make matches, the brain is strengthening short-term memory, visual-spatial reasoning, and hand-eye coordination. It’s a perfect blend of left-brain focus, right-brain creativity, and tactile engagement - all while having fun.
We truly wish we could send puzzles to everyone who asks. While we can’t feasibly provide for every assisted living home, library, school, or competition, we do our best to reach as many communities as possible each year across North America. To keep things fair, we sometimes hold random draws for donation requests when demand is high. If we’ve already supported your group with a free product, we may encourage a discounted request the next time around, that way we can keep sharing the love more widely while still supporting you. When you invest in us and we invest in you, it allows us to extend that support to others too.
