🧩 What is the Tournament of Pieces?

The Tournament of Pieces is a multi-event speed puzzling competition created by Origins Game Fair. In 2025, it will be hosted by the experienced team at SpeedPuzzling.com, one of the leading names in the speed puzzling scene. The event includes nine exciting competitions across multiple formats of solo, pairs, and teams of four and six.

You'll also find:

  • A speed puzzling seminar

  • A few free events open to all attendees

  • Multiple USAJPA-sanctioned events (with results counting toward your official JPAR ranking) - these are the Ohio State Championship events

Whether you're here to race or just learn more about the sport, there's something for everyone!

🎟️ How Do I Sign Up?

It’s easy to join the fun! Head to SpeedPuzzling.com to purchase your ticket(s). You can choose:

  • A bundle ticket that covers all nine events ($135 before June 1st)

  • Individual tickets if you’re only interested in select competitions

All events are hosted by Jonathan of SpeedPuzzling.com, a former founding member of the USAJPA and a veteran organizer of both in-person and online events. You're in for a professional, well-run competition experience from start to finish. The top three finishers in each event will win a Cobble Hill gift card and/or pick of puzzle(s) at the event.

🙌 Who Can Participate?

Everyone! The Tournament of Pieces is open to all skill levels. Whether you’re puzzling alone or gathering a team, it’s a great way to meet others, challenge yourself, and have a blast. There is even a fun event for an adult and youth to compete with the Cobble Hill Family Pieces 350 puzzle, which has small, medium, and large sized pieces so puzzlers of all levels can work together!

🤔 Not sure which events to sign up for?

Check out the event schedule (image below) to help plan your experience.

Yellow blocks = Free events (great for trying things out!)

  1. First block has a 1.5 hour allotted time. It's a Family Pieces 350 event, which gives people a chance to experience this unique style of puzzle that includes small, medium, and large pieces that cascade in one direction. It allows puzzlers of varying skill levels to collaborate on the same puzzle. And, the first event on Friday morning is with the Family Pieces 350 puzzle, so it's a great way for competitors to train up before their contest!
  2. Second block has three different events running simultaneously that happen within the 1 hour allotted time
  • Tray puzzle race - Six tray puzzles, each with 35 pieces, will be mixed together in a bag. The goal is to get all 210 pieces assembled into their trays before the one hour is up.
  • Create Your Own Puzzle Postcard - Crayons will be provided for anyone who wants to design their own 5" x 7" postcard puzzle. It's a 12 piece puzzle with a white canvas and when all the pieces are removed from the tray frame, you can write a special message on the tray. Super cute keepsake!
  • 275 piece fun run - Try out an Easy Handling 275 piece puzzle that has larger than average pieces making it easy to see more details per puzzle piece. It's great for anyone who wants to work a smaller piece count, but particularly wonderful for seniors who may find small pieces too challenging or those who have vision considerations. Like the Family Pieces 350 puzzles, this one is also a great way to bridge generations allowing puzzlers of different skill levels to come together.
  • Speed Puzzling Seminar - Come learn about speed puzzling and how to successfully train for competitions, learn how you can participate, and meet other interested people!

Blue blocks = Non-sanctioned events (just for fun and friendly competition)
Green blocks = USAJPA sanctioned events (your time counts toward your official JPAR ranking - this is where many of the top competitors will be)

Head to SpeedPuzzling.com, click on any event to read a full description, and if it sounds like a good fit, be sure to register before the spots are filled!
