Launching at USA Jigsaw Nationals: A New 100 Piece Puzzle Line
Cobble Hill is excited to introduce something new to the table: our 100 piece puzzle line, designed to be perfect for Puzzle Chess!
The 100 piece line offers exactly what you'd expect - a satisfying, quick build that fits easily into a busy day. For experienced puzzlers, they're a "puzzle snack" between larger projects. For newcomers and younger puzzlers, they're a wonderful way to ease into the hobby.
But this line was created with something more in mind...
Cobble Hill is sponsoring the Special Competitions at the USA Jigsaw Nationals 2026 in Atlanta, GA, where our new 100 piece line will debut in an all-day Puzzle Chess event on Friday, March 27. Puzzle Chess is a fast-paced, head-to-head format that brings a fresh kind of energy to puzzling. It's part strategy, part speed, and all about sharing the experience. We’ll have more details when the line officially launches, including how to get a free chess clock and different ways to set up the game. In the meantime, you can check out the Puzzle Chess rules on the USA Jigsaw Nationals page.
About the puzzle
Many puzzlers know that the piece count is often an approximation. A 1000 piece puzzle can be 1007 pieces or 996. In a similar vein, our 100 piece puzzles are technically 102 pieces in total: 38 pieces form the frame, with 64 pieces making up the inner section. While the line carries our signature random cut, the 64 pieces isn't random - that is the number of squares on a chessboard. Two players build the frame together at the start, then compete to place the inner pieces, 32 pieces each. It's perfect for Puzzle Chess.
We hope you're as excited as we are about this new 100 piece line. With a finished size of 13" x 19", they offer a smaller footprint than our standard puzzles - ideal for school programs, kitchen tables, or even a game night at the pub. The compact box measures 8.75" x 1.875" x 6.75", making it easy to take along wherever puzzling happens.
Fun for everyone
Whether you're building solo, introducing someone new to puzzling, or seeing how you stack up against a friend, this new line is designed to meet you there.
