A Garden Tour Sparks Memories of Gibbs Gardens

A Garden Tour Sparks Memories of Gibbs Gardens

by Elmer Prather, guest blogger

My latest puzzle is a 100-piece titled Garden Tour by Jo-Anne Richards. I chose this puzzle because it reminded me of Gibbs Gardens, which is in Ball Ground, Georgia, twenty-four miles from my home in Canton, Georgia.

Four vignettes of gardens with flowers and peacocks

Gibbs Gardens has seasonal floral displays such as the Daffodil, Azelia, Rhododendron, and Hydrangea Gardens, the Woodland Shade Gardens, and the Nature Canopy Walk. This is a large garden with twenty million Daffodils. The puzzle picture displays a Japanese Garden, a Waterlily Garden, and a Rose Garden. Gibbs Gardens has these same areas.

This being a one-hundred-piece puzzle, it was easy to put together. The puzzle is four puzzles in one. There is an oval flower arrangement with the words, Cobble Hill Garden Tour written inside the oval. Displayed in the puzzle are several sheep, two peacocks, and other birds. It also has a large barn, and in the background, there are several acres set aside for farming. It also has water flowing in and around the flowers. Several birds are flying around, and ducks are paddling on the water in the background. The puzzle features a large greenhouse, several large dogs, and a variety of different flowers. There is a flower cart filled with flowers, and a cat peeping through the flowers as if it is watching the photographer as the pictures are being taken. There are several varieties of daffodils. The puzzle picture also has a large barn and a white fence around the pasture where the horses are kept. There are many different types of flowers displayed all around the puzzle. There are some large sunflowers on both sides of this puzzle. Sunflower seeds are a common ingredient in bird feed, supporting wildlife in gardens and backyards. I can imagine the birds in this puzzle enjoying the seeds produced by these large sunflowers.
